Konichiwa Film Jammers! Today we’re bringing you an ARRI Alexa Mini slow motion footage test, specifically at 60 fps and 200 fps.

This isn’t the first time we’ve looked at slow motion on Film Jams – check out our video below on the Phantom Flex, where we shoot some footage at 1000 fps and 2000 fps.

While the ARRI Alexa can’t shoot quite that fast, having a max frame rate of 200 fps, it’s color science and features are top notch. It’s a powerful and lightweight cinema camera that many cinematographers are choosing for Hollywood films. A dedicated slow motion camera, like the Phantom Flex – has its place for sure. Now, the Alexa Mini can shoot 200 fps in 2k and up to 60 fps in 4k. We filmed our test using the ProRes 4444 codec.

Our ARRI Alexa Minis prepare for battle in the slow motion test at 200 fps & 60 fps

The ARRI Alexa Mini has quickly become one of the most popular filmmaking cameras out there, so we’re here to show you an ARRI Alexa slow motion test in a few different environments and lighting setups.

Most importantly, we have ninjas! They’ll be slicing some fruit, and giving us a real-life game of fruit ninja warrior.

Overall, both 60 frames per second and 200 fps were beautiful and filmic, and as to be expected, the 200 fps looked more dramatic but the 60 fps also looked great, and definitely has it’s place in film production

What do you think about our ARRI Alexa Mini slow motion footage test? Let us know, and thanks for watching!
