Is the MoVI Pro the Best Camera Gimbal Yet?
In this episode of Film Jams, we take a look at the new Freefly MoVI Pro camera gimbal. We’ll walk you through how to setup the Movi Pro, as well as go through our list of Pros and Cons of the gimbal. In this Movi Pro review, you’ll also get to see how to rig an ARRI Alexa Mini on the Movi. We’ll give you some insider tips on how to power the Alexa Mini as well as see how it performs in the real world.
We thought the Alexa Mini camera held up surprisingly well at night even when shooting at 48fps. We used very minimal (to no additional lighting) in the shots. We had one of our grips Hollywooding (or hand-holding) a Litepanel Astra (6x) with a V-mount battery for some of the shots. We also got to put our Canon Cinema Prime Lenses to the test, specifically the CN-E 24mm – which is my personal favorite focal length for use on a gimbal.
